Below are some of my feature and TV series projects. If you would like to read, have any questions, or want more info on any of them please reach out to me via the email contact page or my direct email.
I’m also currently the EVP of Creative at Bee Holder Productions and working on developing multiple TV series and films.
Heartbreaker - horror feature
When an aspiring country singer is compelled to return to the Kentucky holler where she grew up, she must confront her past with the townspeople and a sinister presence that will kill to escape.
“Heartbreaker” is a female-driven throwback to 1990s monster movies like “Pumpkinhead,” with a more updated sensibility akin to “The Babadook” or “Barbarian.”
I am currently raising equity for production to start in Kentucky or South Carolina with an engaged and experienced physical production company.
Mojave Crime - TV Pilot
A pulpy, heightened-reality crime series set in Southern California’s High Desert plays host to a world of lights in the sky, earthquakes, and a string of dead bodies discovered in a mystical, century-old pattern. As a hard-nosed private investigator navigates this brutal landscape, he soon finds himself entangled in a web of corruption and deceit spun by the area’s wealthiest family, whose philanthropic efforts mask their sinister intentions.
Written and created with Christian Donovan (writer and Co-Producer on Mayor of Kingstown), this was developed from the excellent collection of flash fiction stories by author Ben Goulet - Mojave Crime Volumes 1 & 2. The show capitalizes on the bizarre liminal space and grittiness of the high desert while exploring themes of family, justice, and our place in a vast cosmos.
Fulfillment - Sci-Fi/Thriller feature
The only human worker at an Amazon-like fulfillment center develops an unlikely romantic relationship with the center's A.I. after the world outside collapses. But, when a human survivor arrives at their door, the trio must learn to co-exist, even as the A.I. is convinced that their guest has come to sabotage more than their relationship.
It’s not just a sci-fi thriller, or the love story between a human and an AI, but a look at our culture’s race-to-the-bottom consumer lifestyle. There are explorations of what it means to be human, a creative, a member of society and what drives us to connection.
Fulfillment won the Grand Prize at Screenplay Festival and was a second rounder at Austin Film Festival. It was previously in development with Escape Artists, but is now clear of any attachments.
Found - TV Pilot
In the 1920s, a team of scientists forms to investigate the appearance of cryptozoological creatures, only to discover a greater existential threat to the world. Even as Dr. Novella is vindicated in their fringe research, it could expose his well-kept secret to society and endanger their very existence.
This TV series was written as an homage to my love of both The X-Files and cryptozoological creatures. As much as it is about uncovering hidden weirdness in the natural world and a love of science, it’s also a show about identity and the search for family. Dr. Novella is based on Dr. James Barry, born in 1789 as Margaret Ann Bulkley who then lived his adult life and brilliantly practiced medicine as a man until his death in 1865. It was a time where certain professions were beyond the reach of women and the identities of non-binary and trans people were erased.
Mad Jack Churchill - Biopic/feature
Based on the true story of John "Mad Jack" Churchill, a British officer who fought Nazi forces in World War II wielding a broadsword and longbow. An inveterate soldier, Mad Jack learns the true nature of conflict once captured and held in a concentration camp. Befriending a Jewish inmate, he comes to understand the value of fighting for a cause larger than his own glory.
Young Guns N’ Roses: The Spaghetti Western Incident - action feature
In the Wild West, filled with big guns and even bigger hair, Axl Rose puts the notorious Rose Gang back together to derail a pack of train bandits, but an old nemesis threatens to tear the outlaw band apart.
This is an 80s action adventure and fantasy western in every sense of the terms. It was written purely out of celebration of the over-the-top music and attitude of one of the world’s most famous and notorious rock bands, reimagining them as an actual gang. Want to see Metallica as gun runners? Lemmy Killmeister as a crazy prospector? Ozzy as a tribal shaman? Amid the gun battles and dissing on Bon Jovi, it’s all here as the Rose Gang takes down Mr. Brownstone and his deadly Night Train…
